Won’t You Wear A Sweater?

It’s Won’t You Wear A Sweater Day!

What day could be more perfect for knitters?

Which brings me to an embarrassing admission.

My name is Kelly, and I love Mister Rogers!

Yes, it’s true. Even though it flys in the face of my usually smart-assy, anti-sappy personality.

I just can’t help myself!

Go check out Lyda’s post. She loves Mister Rogers too!

Six Weird Things About Me

Marin tagged me! Thanks Marin, I feel so special.

And yes, I know, there are WAY more than six weird things about me!

The Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

My list:

1. I’m 5′ 10″. I have been 5′ 10″ since I was 12. I’m short in my family.

2. I love the Muppets. LOVE them. I would have given anything to be a guest on The Muppet Show. When I was in 3rd grade my class made muppets with Jim Henson and we did Where The Wild Are on the local public access channel. I was a cyclops.

I want to be Dr. Bunsen Honeydew when I grow up.

3. I’m a Rocket Scientist. (But still really want to be a Marine Biologist.)

4. My favorite movie in the world is What’s Up Doc?

“I know I’m different, but from now on… I’ll try to be more the same.”

“The same as what?”

“The same as people who aren’t different!”

I want to be Madeline Kahn when I grow up. I have a secret crush on Ken Mars.

5. I’m totally addicted to ToonTown! My Toons are Little Mo Mo Fizzleflap, Mocha Frapp and Awesome Kelly.

Are YOU Toon Enough??

Why, yes… yes I AM!!

(I’m also newly addicted to Guitar Hero, but that’s a whole ‘nother story! I play a mean Welcome To The Jungle! Party on Wayne.)

6. I have opposite reactions to medicines and caffeine. So when the box says it will make you drowsy? Yeah, not me, it’ll keep me up all night. If I’m jittery or stressed, a can of Dew or Pepsi will calm me right down. They say it’s my ADD. I say it’s just cause I’m a freak.

So there you have it. More proof that I’m pretty much a nut case! (OH! I forgot my favorite one… My Captain Underpants name is Boobie Chickendoodle! I’m SO 12!!)

The rules say that I have to tag six people, so I will… but ya’ll are under no obligation! Hmmmm… I pick Lyda, Marcia, Kim, Ally, Red and Sandy (cuz she might need something for a slow day on her 365 days of blogging!)

Couldn’t I be French Toasty instead? With some powdered sugar. OH! And some BACON!! Gotta have the bacon.

Found this quiz over at Marin’s. Thanks AntiM!

For Lyda!

Oh but you can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a scarf at you!

Ketchup! (Actually, I prefer Ranch)

Hellooooo out there! I just know that all four of my readers out there have missed me terribly. But hey, guess what? I have actual knitting to show you! Please, try and remain calm. I’ll get to that in a minute. First things first….

It’s BASEBALL people! It’s WORLD SERIES baseball! (And, for the record, I just need to say that I can not STAND those Dane Cook commercials. They drive me totally nuts, and, as most of you know, that is not a far drive for me.)

But hey! How ’bout those Red Sox?! If the A’s can’t be there then they’re my next favorite team. Yup! It’s Sox vs Rox! I’m betting Sox in 5. The Rockies do have a couple young players that I really like and will be watching next year though. But I think that the crappy pitching they faced in the last two series didn’t do much to prepare them for the AL pitching of the World Series even if it wasn’t the Sox that had made it. Anyway, I digress… I must be reading Lyda too much!

Speaking of Lyda… how close are you to Disneyland, Miss Lyda?! Maren and I will be there November 9, 10 and 11. She’s dancing in the Holiday Spectacular Parade on the 10th. See, there I go with the digressing again.

If you look to the right of the page (see me doing my best Vanna impression?) you will notice that I have updated my Summer Knitting Goals. I did indeed finish the blankie for Dave and Heather AND gave it to them BEFORE the lovely Miss Abby arrived last week!

I was going to block it, but I didn’t. I probably should have. It bugs me that it’s not squared off. I made it bigger than I planned, it’s about the length of a crib mattress and little bit wider.

In this picture you can see the actual colors much better.

Maren’s Blankie? Uh yeah, that’s another story. It got put at the bottom of the pile for the summer. That thing is so darn heavy I was baking trying to knit on it! It’s going to have to wait a little longer, cause it’s still warmish here. Maybe I’ll finish it in November. And then I’m thinking I might want to start it over on bigger needles cause it really is heavy and maybe a little more drape would be good. But I really do NOT want to start over, I’ve done so much of it already. I have no idea. I’ll stop now.

I might be ready to think about actually trying a sock. I practiced a lot with those double pointy things and got pretty good at it. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Of course they were US 7s, NOT US 1s! Those still scare me a bit. (Okay, they scare me a LOT!)

Oh Kelly, what did you knit that you needed to learn to use dpns? Why, thanks so much for asking!

Are you sitting down?

Are you ready?

I knit THIS!! (Sorry for the crummy picture, I’ll get one in better light when I’m done with the little hat I’m attempting with the leftovers.)

tulip-sweater.jpg

Lookie! It’s a Tulip Sweater! And it only has two three glaring booboos! But I’m okay with them (kinda, mostly, a little, not really) cause it’s my very first sweater. I got two kits, this one was the experiment. I’m pretty sure I know how not to make the same booboos on the next one. At least two of them anyway.

That’s all I’ve got for today!

GO SOX!!

I’m a Geek and I’m PROUD!

Me?? A geek?? Surely, you jest!! (I’m completely serious. And please, stop calling me Shirley.)

It’s not like I didn’t know, but I was a bit surprised at my score… 49.70414% - Super Geek. I didn’t score much in the sci-fi, literature or gaming stuff. I’m a science/math/logic/montypython/talk-like-a-pirate-day kinda girl. I especially liked the play with hazardous chemicals selection (No comment Dianne!)

i am a super geek

I’ll fly my geek flag high! Thanks for getting this started Anna-Liza!

Kelly WHO??

Sooooo… for a few days I’ve been trying to figure out a catch-up (as opposed to ketchup) post, and all that has done is put me even farther behind. So, instead of freaking out and trying to get caught up, I’m just going to jump in where I’m at and I’ll fill in the past in pieces as I go for the next week (or two or seven.) Hey, that way I’ll actually have something to talk about! How’s that for a novel concept? (For those wondering at home, I’ll get to the novel in a bit.) I’ll have time to keep up a little better since Maren goes back to school in the morning!!! WOOOHOOOOO!! Oh, was that my outloud voice? Really, I will miss her, but at the same time it’ll be great to have my daze days back, ya know?

The Novel
I have almost finished One For The Money!! I really like it, and though this really is the usual snail’s pace it takes me to get through a book, I would actually be almost done with the second one if it wasn’t for the knitting deadline of August 11 that I had.

The Knitting Deadline
Yeah, I didn’t make it. (Yeah, I know, at least pretend you’re shocked I didn’t make it!) On my little sidebar thingie on the right, you might have noticed my Summer Goals. I was to finish Dave and Heather’s baby blanket before the baby comes (in early October.) I’ll still make THAT deadline, BUT (and I have a big butt) when I got the shower invitation for August 11th, I panicked just a teensie. So really, I just missed the pre-deadline, and not actually the actual deadline so my Summer Goals are still intact. Right? Of course right. Kelly Logic. It’s a beautiful thing. Learn it. Live it.

The Manatees
Sorry Marin, there were no Manatees for me to bring home. However, there was a boy who took a liking to Maren at camp that she’ll probably be seeing again. She even got her very first kiss! (Well, the first one I know of anyway, it BETTER be her first!!) I’d like you all to meet Sprouts. He’s from Monterey, and I hear he comes from a VERY good family!
